I’ve officially started my job as the Ocean Alaska Science and Learning Center’s Media Intern! My first week is going to be a lot of editing and organizing work- including doing some in depth research on the project I will be focused on called “The Changing Tides Project.” Here’s a link for some information that has already been posted on the project: http://www.nps.gov/katm/learn/changing-tides.htm.
The first week of July I will be traveling to the coast of Katmai to gather bear related media for the project, and possibly to Lake Clark the week before to gather more media, specifically focused on the invertebrates. I’ll admit, these trips will be unlike anything I’ve ever done, but I keep telling myself it’s only 3 weeks (at the most) that I’ll be out in the parks. It will be a good test to see how I fend in such situations. Definitely a test of my health, guts, confidence, and possibly my sanity. That being said, I’m extremely excited to have the opportunity to document the work being done because quite honestly, not many people get to see anything like it. It will literally be the trip of a lifetime.
But alas, my lunch break is over. Here’s some photos from the First Sunday I spent in Seward:
