The beginning of the 2014 school year brings me to the studio again, a place that excites me and that I feel comfortable in. I have a special interest in the studio and use of artificial light. I appreciate the control that it lends the photographer which essentially opens the door to a new way of capturing a moment. Having control of this situation in every way (environment, model choice, light control) gives great creative freedom, but with it comes great responsibility. This shifts the skill set slightly from waiting to capture the right moment to attributing and even creating the moment. The huge range of what you can do in the studio makes it a very exciting place to really stretch your creative horizons, and I’m so excited to do so again.
The first experience in the journalism studio was a hoot. The class laughed and cheered on as we took turns shooting and posing for photos. I took photos of Alex, shown here reminding to keep your eyes (or lenses) towards the future.
