Stopping Traffic
On Saturday, March 9th I received a phone call from a friend telling me about a group of high school students they had spotted protesting human trafficking on the side of one of the busy roads of Midland, Michigan. Curious, I drove over to see what their cause was and I was amazed to see what they were doing.
As members of a local youth group “X-treme” five high school boys and an adult leader were raising money on the side Eastman Avenue to donate to the International Justice Mission. It was soon learned that the organization had over 50 people around town raising awareness and money for the same cause.
In addition to raising money and awareness by facing the brisk 23 degree weather, some of the boys were also wearing bold red X’s on their hands to spread awareness around their school and on social media.
An estimated $1,000 to $2,000 was raised to donate to the organization that saves girls lives by buying them directly out of the slave trade.
