How Do You Train a Black Rhino to Monitor Pregnancy?

Potter Park Zoo’s black rhino “Doppsee” is expecting! At Potter Park Zoo, we use positive reinforcement training with almost all of our animals. The behaviors they learn through training help the zookeepers and veterinarians provide the best care possible. It is much more complicated to get a blood sample or do an ultrasound if we are required to place an animal under anesthesia every time we want to check blood values.
